Smile so relaxing to read......I'm reading pathfinders, sneaky beaky unit like sas going in first to the afghan war undercover - why this subject?

I have read lots on my kindle recently, save my husband spending his pennies on another download I'm going through the books that he has downloaded, and having a ball! Although tour de france isn't my cup of tea or confessions of a delivery driver!!

Takes the edge of ra for me.

ThumpUp just finished another book on my kindle:
Pathfinders by David Blakeley.

Fantastic true story about elite troop that go out sneaky beaky first to gather intel, army smallest and most secretive unit: sort of like paras/sas.

Pathfinder's motto first in.
Behind enemy lines in 2003.

My hubby said you will like this! And I did.

Smile Read another book on my kindle about a fbi hostage negotiator/stalling for time.
It was interesting, Gary was a negotiator during the wacco seige.

Read another man book from my husband list of books he has already read on his kindle. I have got him to download so many books. In 9 months I have had the kindle I have read over 40 books, and he has paid for them all - so I'm saving him pennies by reading some of his selection!!

Hi everyone have just read The Thread by Victoria Hislop, a great read. This one is set in northern Greece and has alot of historical content combined with an interesting story. As good as her earlier books The Island and The Return.

I am still on paperbacks and a gimble but keep thinking of treating myself to a kindle.

Thanks for the recommendation bevvie I've sent a copy for jean to read while she's recovering.

Smile

I've got several books to start but these are on my kindle at the moment:

The time travellers guide to Elizabethan england by Ian Mortimer.
This book is written like a real tourists guide, what you'd find and how to understand the daily lives of people living at this time. It's a gentle easy read as if you were casually visiting. I've dipped in and out of this book all summer.

A name in blood by matt Rees
This is my newest bk. it's gripping stuff written about the genius painter Caravaggio who was a renaissance bad boy but got away with lots because of his patronage. Then he took it a step too far and murdered someone..... This is where the story really takes off

I'm interested because carravagio often used people with ra aS models like in his Cupid painting for their sallow skin quality. Actually rumour has it he developed it in his latter career....

Any new ones you are looking at?

One of the ones I have just finished reading is called A Family Affair by Mary Campisi

One of the first ones I downloaded was Crime in the Community by Cecilia Peartree; very good book; set in Scotland.

I think it was a free book I downloaded.

I have downloaded all 3 of the shades of grey but not started them yet.......

Hi Jenni, hope Jean enjoys it and is feeling better. I haven't got anything in particular at the moment just reading my way through some books someone gave me a while ago. I would recommend The American Wife which I read a couple of years ago it is meant to be loosely based on Laura Bush but is a good interesting read whatever your politics are. I lent it to my twenty four year old neice and my eighty four year old auntie and they both enjoyed it!

I would also recommend The Help which you've probably read or heard of, based in the deep south in the sixties.

Just got a kobo as had been struggling to hold books. SO much better! Anyway im reading a book called Another Alice, anyone else read it? Its a true story about a young girl with a promising tennis career who gets diagnosed with RA at 18. I'm really enjoying reading it as like this forum its nice to see that it isn't just you that goes through these every day struggles, and as relatively young myself i wanted to see how or if she's able to change her career path as thats something im trying to come to terms with myself. So if anyone has read it let me know what you thought of it :)

Smile ThumpUp electronic readers are amazing!! I got one 4 xmas....read lots now, take to my medical appointments! Light weight to carry.

I read Alice (Peterson)? When I was first diagnosed, she writes novels - haven't read them. She is on twitter, haven't signed up to her.
An amazing account of being diagnosed so young, I found her story really positive for me that life goes on!

Enjoy ur kobo

Ben rather slack on the kindle thread I'm afraid but this is my favouritistest ones

Tonight it's the list of the hard hitters!

I love 'the shack'
Amazing book now read 3 times as I get something different each time
It's a fiction about a mans dramatic spiritual journey and encounters with God
It's not just for Christians so definately open to agnostics and no particular religious thought too.
I found it incredibly powerful

Next
'The boy who was raised as a dog and other stories' by Bruce perry
A fascinating book based on the fledgling therapist Bruce as he gets to work with traumatised children and their families
It's written in an engaging, unputdownable style and jaw droppingly stunning in its analysis of kids who have had poor early starts and most importantly what can be done and should be done about it.
It's been a tremendous support to me as an adoptive mum facing the long term legacy of early trauma and I've shared it so widely I've lost 3 copies now so bought it on kindle so I can continue to lend it out
It's very uplifting challenging and wonderful.

What are your hard hitters but so glad you got them books?

I'm on 'odd girl out: how to help your daughter navigate the world of friendships' by Rachel Simmons
Handy stuff having 2 girls...
